Historic Daydream Mine

Agri, Mining and Industry Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Historic Daydream Mine was founded in 1881, before the beginning of the Broken Hill Mining Company (BHP). The mine is just a 30 minute drive from Broken Hill.

Drive through some of Australia’s great outback scenery into Apollyon Valley then take a one hour fully-guided underground and surface tour of the old mine workings to see how this mine once operated, mined by Cornish men and boys sorting the silver – some as young as eight years old.

Devonshire teas, cold drinks and souvenirs are available.

Sturdy footwear is essential in accordance with the Department of Mines Safety Act. No EFTPOS or credit card facilities available. Underground and surface tours are available.
