Rankins Springs

Rural

Set in the middle of the Conapaira Range between Goolgowi and West Wyalong, Rankins Springs was established in 1869 and provides a welcome stop over for travellers. The original Rankins Springs village was located approximately 10 kilometres from the present village, and all that marks this site is the remains of a grand hotel in the middle of a valley. The village moved to its present site following the construction of the railway in 1923.

Popular for its bird watching, there are seven designated bird watching sites in the area that are home to Glossy Black Cockatoos, Superb Parrot, Major Mitchell Cockatoo and other native birds. Explore the Natural Wonders Cocoparra National Park 45 kilometres from Rankins Springs and enjoy bushwalking, picnicking, nature study and photography.
