Holmes Jungle Nature Park

National Parks and Reserves

Located on the fringe of Darwin’s northern suburbs, the park is popular with picnickers, walkers and birders at any time of the year. Cyclists and horse riders are welcome, on a separate shared track.

Vehicles can access the park from 8am to 6pm. Some roads are closed during the Wet Season (October to April). Check our park access information for the Darwin region to see if this park is open now: https://nt.gov.au/leisure/parks-reserves/check-park-open-darwin

Panoramic views of the wetlands to the north, monsoon forest to the east and undulating ridges and savannah woodlands to the south from the main picnic area. The park covers 250 hectares, with Palm Creek winding its way through the centre.

Holmes Jungle Nature Park protects an isolated pocket of monsoon forest. Take the Jungle Walk along Palm Creek through the monsoon forest, or the Woodland Walk which links the Hilltop Picnic area with the Jungle picnic area.

Keep an eye out for Spangled Drongos and the Torres Strait Imperial-pigeons in the wet season. The tiny Red-backed Fairy-wren is commonly found in clumps of pandanus throughout the Park.
