Emu Park

Urban

Just a scenic 20km drive along the coast from Yeppoon, Emu Park is a peaceful coastal village with shady parks and picturesque beaches. Once an exclusive beach resort at the turn of the 20th century, Emu Park is now appreciated as an idyllic seaside village with plenty of character. Hosting events like ‘Oktoberfest’ and the ‘Festival of the Wind’, as well as monthly markets, Emu Park has plenty on offer. Emu Park boasts a full range of shopping choice, including IGA supermarket, pharmacy, bakeries, hairdressers, hardware and more.

Take time for a leisurely stroll by the sea
Emu Park is also home to the famous Singing Ship sculpture. Set against a spectacular coastal vista, the majestic monument commemorates the area’s legacy of the historical explorations of Captain James Cook. A gentle sea breeze produces a musical sound through fluted pipes that will be long remembered.

A new addition to Emu Park’s list of attractions is the Centenary of ANZAC Memorial Walk The reflective memorial boardwalk and its gateway gallery entry are the focal point to the new Memorial. The walkway is intended as an emotional reflective experience and provides a timeline of WW1’s many major battles of war.

If you have a boat or just like to wet a line, nearby Coorooman Creek is a popular local fishing spot with a quality boat ramp and pontoon. From Emu Park, the scenic touring loop heads back to Rockhampton, on the way passing the turn-off to Koorana Crocodile Farm where you’ll see Australia’s own living dinosaurs in the flesh. At Koorana you can take a tour of the farm, hold a baby ‘croc’ and watch the big ’salties’ at feeding time.
