Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens

Parks and Gardens

A fantastic garden for all ages with walking tracks, hectares of low rainfall Australian plantings to enjoy and its newest feature, its Arid Explorers Garden. The fully fenced garden features a dry creek bed, a ‘big red’ sandpit, climbing logs, seating, walking tracks, a mini bird hide, and an established garden for kids to explore.

Explore the amazing range of plants, including the largest public collection of eremophilas, on one of the Garden’s four walking tracks. Home to more than 150 species of arid land native birds the Garden is a bird lover’s paradise and features two bird hides. Spectacular views of the ancient Flinders Ranges form a backdrop to the garden, and can also be enjoyed from the Matthew Flinders Red Cliff Lookout.

Enjoy native-food inspired food in the Bluebush Cafe in our award-winning visitor centre. Relax al fresco with a freshly brewed espresso or a glass of wine and with a meal or one of the native tasting plates.

The Gift Shop provides information on the Garden as well as unique, Australian made souvenirs and water-wise AridSmart plants grown on site.

You’ll find us on the north side of Port Augusta at 144 Stuart Highway.
