Paul and Astrid Keen are the owner operators of Flinders Experience 4WD Tours.

Their tours depart any day on demand from Quorn, Hawker, Rawnsley Park Station and Wilpena Pound Resort/campground – and other locations in the Flinders by arrangement.

The 4WD tours offered throughout the Flinders Ranges can be either half, three quarter or full day tours. Tours include the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park and other dirt tracks through the Flinders Ranges as well as many places of interest.

They offer several different tours and will pick you up from your accommodation.

The Flinders Ranges offer endless photographic opportunities and they have a passion for the area they are proud to call home so they are happy to share this knowledge with you. They take a minimum of two and a maximum of four passengers for your comfort and can tailor a tour to suit your specific needs.

Enjoy the tranquility, flora and fauna and the fabulous views from the various lookout points. Tour through the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park and see yellow-footed rock-wallabies in Brachina Gorge.

The Flinders Ranges offers breathtaking scenery and vibrant colours and a tour will give you a great overall understanding of this area.

“Half Day” (four hour) – “Gorges” Tour of the Flinders Ranges – with pick up from your accommodation.

Departing from your accommodation they spend four hours showcasing the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park which offers an abundance of wildlife including the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby, as well as Red kangaroos, Western Grey kangaroos, Euros or Wallaroos as well as some spectacular bird life.

They travel the magical Moralana Scenic Drive and look at the amazing ancient geological rock formations of the Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges, and including a viewing of an ancient marine fossil – the Archaeocyatha Fossil – 530 million years old.

The scenery is stunning and diverse – from deep inside the gorges to the open expansive views from the Razorbacks Lookout.

After indulging in the beauty of Moralana Scenic Drive they showcase Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park which offers an abundance of flora and wildlife – including the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby.

They look at the amazing ancient geological rock formations of the Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges, and including a viewing of an ancient marine fossil – the Archaeocyatha Fossil – 530 million years old.

The scenery is stunning and diverse – from deep inside the gorges to the open expansive views from the Razorbacks Lookout.
There is always a high possibility of seeing kangaroos, emu’s and wedge tailed eagles in the natural environment.

But wait…. there’s more!!

On this tour they also visit the incredible Aroona Valley where Hans Heysen stayed in the late 1920’s and they can soak up the scenery.

On the return journey they call into Stokes Hill Lookout enjoy the magical view from this special location.

The tour includes complimentary picnic lunch and morning tea and returns mid afternoon (6 hours).

They spend the day looking at the very best of the Central Flinders Ranges. They explore the Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park and then further north.

Day One: Depart 8am. They travel through the heart of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park via Bunyeroo Valley and Gorge, then follow Aroona Valley to the spectacular Brachina Gorge and have time to observe the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby. They continue north to the picturesque Parachilna Gorge and on to the historic copper mining town of Blinman for lunch.

After lunch they travel across this 600 metre high plateau to the eastern side of the Flinders Ranges across remote sheep station properties before they stop for a 4WD trek into Chambers Gorge, where you can view the gallery of ancient Aboriginal Rock Engravings. Continue on into the Gammon Ranges National Park and the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary Resort. Check into your Mawson Room, dinner at the Native Pine Restaurant.

Day Two: Early breakfast before joining the exclusive, world famous, Arkaroola Ridge Top Tour – travel through the creeks, valleys and over the ridges of Arkaroola, climaxing with an amazing view from Sillers lookout and some lovely morning tea. (approx 4.5 hours)

After lunch (at Arkaroola), return via Copley and then along the western side of the central flinders with beautiful late afternoon light to enjoy

Arriving back at approximately 5.30pm.

Departs from Adelaide on demand – leaving on a Tuesday or Friday – (to fit in with the Ediacaran Fossil Tour)

Day One: Pickup from your hotel in Adelaide, and travel 300kms north to Pichi Richi Pass and the historic Ghan Railway township of Quorn for lunch, then it on to Hawker the Hub of the Flinders Ranges and the gateway to the Outback before travelling through the Moralana Scenic Drive, one of the best drives in the Flinders Ranges. Check into accommodation at Wilpena Pound Resort.

Day Two – Depart early for Nilpena Ediacara National Park to meet the 10am Ediacara Experience Tour. After the two hour tour we call into the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna for a relaxed lunch – and return to Wilpena Pound Resort via Brachina Gorge Geological Trail – with a visit to the Archaeocyatha Fossil (530 million years) and the Golden Spike – and Bunyeroo Gorge Scenic Drive within the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, a geological journey through 640 million years.

Day 3 – Early breakfast before a complimentary 20 min Scenic Flight over Wilpena Pound (subject to weather) before our return to Adelaide with a cafe/bakery lunch stop on the way.
