The Round House

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Experience a piece of the rich history of Murray Bridge at the Round House.

This unique, hexagonal-shaped residence built between 1873 and 1876, was pivotal to the early development of Murray Bridge. Built for Henry Parker, the superintendent overseeing the construction of the first bridge to span the Murray River, the Round House has also served as the town’s first school, post office, church and council chambers. Visitors are able to tour the homestead and wander the beautiful garden overlooking the river and bridges

With spectacular and bridge views, the Round House is State Heritage and National Estate listed,
and has been lovingly restored and is maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers.
Guided tours of the property are conducted for coach, school and large groups by appointment.

Devonshire teas are available for group bookings.

The Round House is also a great venue for small weddings and private functions.
