Stokes Bay is a picture perfect safe swimming beach on the North Coast of Kangaroo Island.
Stokes Bay is 45 minutes from Kingscote via the unsealed North Coast Road or 25 minutes using the sealed Stokes Bay Road from Parndana. The area has a large car park with toilets, a camping area (fees apply) and an undercover barbecue and picnic area.
There’s a secret to getting there. Walk to the east of the bay and follow the signs pointing to the beach. Make your way through the headland of boulders and be greeted by the beautiful white, fine sandy beach stretching out before you. Swim safely in the rock-enclosed pool which provides protection from the surf and is great for children.
Whilst in the area pause for a bite to eat at The Rockpool Cafe or Stokes Bar and Grill (check seasonal opening hours). You can also stroll through the Stokes Bay Bush Garden, visit Paul’s Place Wildlife Sanctuary and the amazing variety of animals at Will’s Rare Breeds Farm.
