Hamptons on the Bay

Apartments Cottages Holiday Houses Retreat and Lodges

Hamptons on the Bay is located in Rocky Hills and is a one-and-three-quarter-hour drive from both Hobart and Launceston. With a luxury three bedroom house and seven beautifully appointed cabins, the property is intimate and private. All accommodation is on the water’s edge, perched high above Great Oyster Bay with majestic views across to Freycinet Peninsula. Our cabins all have queen beds and separate bathroom, lounge/dining/kitchenette.
The three bedroom house has king beds, each with ensuite and over 250sqm of living space. The East Coast is renowned for its wineries and convict history and has some of the oldest farms in Tasmania going back several generations. The climate is mild and rainfall remarkably low which all adds up to many beautiful sunny days and mild temperatures. Swansea is a ten-minute drive away and has several great restaurants and cafes and supermarkets for provisions.
Migratory whales, dolphins, and sea eagles as well as wallabies, possums, wombats and echidnas can often be seen as Hamptons sits in a scenic nature corridor which is sparsely populated. The cabins are a great base to explore Tasmania’s East Coast with attractions such a Wineglass Bay and Maria Island are all within comfortable driving distances.

Aerial View of House

This majestic home of generous proportions is the jewel in the crown at Hamptons on the Bay. The House is perched on coastal cliffs less than 25 m from the edge of Great Oyster Bay. All bedrooms, and even one of the ensuites, have ocean views. The House has been decorated with contemporary and antique furnishings to provide our guests with a luxurious but relaxed “real home” feel that is both graceful and elegant. Guests have access to a large living room/entertainment hub/kitchen/dining and sitting area and daybed, whilst two suites incorporate private sitting areas for that special time alone. Being on Tasmania’s East Coast, the House will entertain you with the most spectacular sunrise and moonrise over the Hazard Mountains, Freycinet Peninsula and Great Oyster Bay. During the day the House provides an ever changing vista of natural beauty as the water transitions through its multitude of hues of blue and aquamarine. With its own private balcony and decking area, guests have unsurpassed access to the pristine natural environment. Winter time with the wood fire burning turns the House into a welcoming haven as the raw beauty of the coast and nature’s elements are at play outside.
