The 20-minute Cradle Mountain & Fury Gorge Adventure is our most popular tour at Cradle Mountain Helicopters. We depart from our helipad at the northern end of the visitor information centre carpark and take to the skies heading south.

As we lift into the air, the iconic form of Cradle Mountain rises in front of us with Dove Lake and Crater Lake nestled at its base. Our pilot then takes us past the western side of Cradle Mountain and we fly over the deep chasm of the untouched Fury Gorge. From here, we meander past the unique Barn Bluff before turning over Lake Will and heading north once again.

On our way back to the hangar, we return past Cradle Mountain and passengers are able to see the many walking tracks winding their way through the landscape as well as the little alpine village of Pencil Pine.

The Overland Adventure flight is a 60-minute experience that traverses the Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park. We take off from our helipad in the Pencil Pine Village, and head south past the beautiful Cradle Mountain with Dove Lake and Crater Lake tucked at its foot. We then travel over the depths of the wild Fury Gorge and past Barn Bluff. From here, we continue our southward trek, and passengers are provided with views of Mount Ossa, Lees Paddocks, the Du Cane Range and The Walls of Jerusalem National Park amongst many other things.

The Land of A Thousand Lakes is a particularly spectacular sight to behold. We continue over rugged Tasmanian bushland until we come into sight of Lake St Clair, the deepest lake in Australia. At the far end of the lake, we make a turn and head north again, past the countless mountains and valleys of the National Park until we reach our helipad once again.

The 60-minute Southwest Adventure flight truly captures the untamed nature of the wild west coast and Southwest World Heritage Area. We depart from our helipad at the northern end of the visitor information centre carpark and head down past Cradle Mountain with Dove Lake and Crater Lake nestled at its foot. We then continue our journey southwards over Fury Gorge. From here, we pass rugged landscapes of mountains and valleys, including Mount Pelion East, Mount Pelion West, Mount Ossa and Eldon Bluff. We then come into sight of the vast Lake Burbury on the outskirts of Queenstown, where we turn back north.

Queenstown is a unique sight to see from above, with the desolate landscape a stark contrast to the surrounding environment. In the distance, passengers are able to see the untamed Southern Ocean and the town of Strahan. As we travel back to our helipad, we soar over the small town of Tullah on the banks of Lake Murchison before returning to the helipad over the Vale of Belvoir.
