Pepperberries Garden Cafe is located at Birchs Bay, on Southern Tasmania’s D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Birchs Bay is a 50-minute (50 km) drive south of Hobart, a short drive from Woodbridge.
Pepperberries is open Thursdays to Sundays, 1000 – 1600 and selected public holidays.
The cafe serves meals all day featuring produce from the farm’s kitchen garden and locally sourced ingredients. The menu changes regularly, dependent upon what is available seasonally and everything is made in-house. Bookings are highly recommended.
The property produces a significant proportion of Australia’s native pepper crop, (being the cafe’s namesake) which is grown, dried and packaged at the farm and sold under the Diemen Pepper label. Products include packaged berries and leaf, tapas oils, vinegar and a range of native bush spices such as lemon myrtle, wattleseed and bush tomato. The farm also grows Dutch iris for the mainland market.
Visitors can take a stroll through the kitchen garden or follow the various walk tracks through the forest and surrounding farm land. Visit during Easter through to late July for the Annual Sculpture Trail Event and vote for your favourite sculpture!
