Pickering’s Hut and Camping Area

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Pickering’s Hut is situated on the banks of the Howqua River nestled amongst mountains such as Mount Timbertop, Red Hill, Little Buller and Mount Buller.

The log cabin was built in the late 1950’s by Norm Pickering, who did not use any nails, just a system of grooves to slot the materials into place.

Note: Pickering’s Hut is privately owned, though there is year round camping available adjacent in the Pickering’s Flat campground.
