Lake MacLeod is a vast wetland system home to one of the largest in-land mangrove communities in the world. The westernmost lake in Australia, the wetlands are replenished by a unique karst system, which flushes the ocean tides of the Indian Ocean through subterranean channels underneath the lake. A photographer’s dream this lake is filled with colour and abstract scenery. In 2020 ‘Blue Dragon’ by Steven Manolakis was shortlisted for the 2020 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition.
