Wubin

Rural

Wubin is your gateway to pastoral country. Here, you can discover the Wheatbelt’s farming history, explore the unique natural landscape and gaze upon a sea of vibrant spring wildflowers.

To get to Wubin, take a leisurely three hour and 20 minute drive north from Perth, passing sweeping rural vistas and natural bush landscapes of the Wheatbelt.

The Heritage Wheatbin Museum awaits your arrival, a rich repository of farming artefacts, vintage machinery and photographic displays telling the stories of local farmers and town folk over the past century. The museum itself is housed in a heritage classified wheatbin, built in 1939, with working displays and models charting the changing industrial nature of agriculture in the area.

Stop by Wubin Railway Station, located next to the museum, to dig a little deeper into Wubin. In addition to being an information centre, where you can purchase local craft and souvenir items, it also houses a fascinating mineral and rock collection.

To enjoy the beauty and serenity of the rural and natural landscapes that surround this quaint country town, head east to Wubin Rocks for a picturesque picnic and spectacular views over the neighbouring farmland.

Visit during the spring wildflower season (August to September) and you can picnic on a blanket of colourful everlastings at the heart of one of the finest wildflower displays on Earth. A staggering variety of native blooms create a stunning backdrop to your trip, including the unusual wreath-shaped Leschenaultia macrantha.

If you want to extend your Wheatbelt adventure with an overnight stay, you’ll find hotel, motel and caravan park accommodation in Dalwallinu, 20 minutes to the south of Wubin.
