Acton Walkways promotes the many rich layers of Acton, a suburb in the heart of the Australian Capital.

Acton’s history dates back to the early traditional custodians of the Canberra region. Following the arrival of Commonwealth surveyors in 1909, Acton Settlement became Canberra’s first suburb. It remained the administrative and social centre for the next forty years. Acton is now a thriving community with a wealth of attractions and activities, breathtaking Canberra vistas and scenic walking trails.

Take a free Wednesday Lunchtime Walk with Acton Walkways. Routes differ each week, allowing you to explore scenery around the Acton precinct and the Lake.

Acton is a thriving community with a wealth of attractions and activities, breathtaking Canberra vistas and scenic walking trails. Discover up to 100 sculptures, 30 heritage sites, national icons, art, music and film venues, and stop by one of the many cafes and restaurants.

Take the water line along Lake Burley Griffin, or meander through the many inland pathways linking the city to the lake.
