National Capital Sport Fishing

Nature and wildlife

National Capital Sport Fishing provides all necessary tackle and equipment to deliver a safe, superbly equipped, professionally operated, high quality sports fishing experience for up to three anglers per tour for a great fishing experience on the waters adjacent to the ACT, and particularly Lake Burley Griffin. Our purpose built 4.7m centre console sport-fishing vessel is fitted out with the latest fish finding technology and equipment to deliver a great day on the water.

Our primary target species are Murray Cod and Golden Perch, and the introduced species of Redfin and Carp also regularly feature in our catch. Lure fishing is our preferred approach for Murray Cod and Golden Perch, using a broad range of casting and trolling techniques utilising a wide range of lures, depending on conditions and the mood of the fish.

Ensuring the sustainability of our fisheries is a fundamental principle of our operation and it is a condition of our permit that all Murray Cod and Golden Perch captured in Lake Burley Griffin must be released back in to the water. For other waters, the fishing regulations as issued by the relevant management authorities apply, but we always encourage catch and release fishing!

Boat on banks of lake

$349

Fast Cast Tours are 3 hours in duration, fishing Lake Burley Griffin and the Molonglo River, or Lake Ginninderra. These tours are only offered on a seasonal basis – usually during school holiday periods and major Canberra based events.

Fast Cast Tours are great option for families where a longer tour might stretch the patience of some of our more junior anglers (!), noting that for families we’ll often mix some bait fishing into the tour to maximise the learning experience.

These tours are also a great option for dedicated anglers that are keen to hit the water after work on weekdays during daylight saving.

Fish with human hand

$495

Our Half Day tours are 5 hours in duration, fishing on Lake Burley Griffin and the Molonglo River.

These tours will see you fishing in a number of locations around Lake Burley Griffin, potentially moving from Scrivener Dam at the western end of the Lake, eastward past Black Mountain Peninsula, famous landmarks such as the National Museum and the National Library, through the Parliamentary Triangle, all the way to the Molonglo River and the eastern end of the Lake.

Great option for enthusiastic anglers looking for some serious fishing time chasing Golden Perch and Murray Cod, with the potential to learn or brush up on some local techniques.

These tours are only generally only offered on Saturdays and Sundays, and may also be available during school holiday periods.
