Designed to make you think and push your boundaries, All About Women Canberra is a vibrant day that asks questions about gender, justice, and equality, while celebrating feminism for every person affected by the patriarchy.
The event will feature a live feed from the Sydney Opera House presenting three compelling panels: Me Too, Year Two, a discussion about the next steps in the crucial movement of our moment, Feminism in the Arab World, a panel curated by poet and activist Sara Saleh to explode myths and assumptions about Arab women and LGBTQI people, and Leading while Female, a frank conversation between Julie Bishop, Linda Burney, Sarah Hanson-Young, and Julia Banks to answer the question: why is it so hard to be a woman politician?
Host and local theatre artist Cathy Petőcz will be joined by a panel of Canberran authors, artists, and academics including Myra Mentari Abubakar, Ginger Gorman, Zev Aviv and Shoeb (Sia) Ahmad to discuss the live feed panels and engage with the audience about feminist ideals and activity in our own community. With live music and a bar open all afternoon, All About Women Canberra is the unofficial International Women’s Day after party.
