Canberra and Region Heritage Festival

Festivals and Celebrations

14 Apr 2018 to 29 Apr 2018

The 2018 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival will be 16 days of celebration for the region’s Aboriginal, historic and natural heritage.

The theme for 2018 is ‘My Culture, My Story’. Come explore, celebrate, share and preserve our cultural heritage. We will be focusing on what makes a place special by sharing the strength of our cultural identities. Highly distinctive cultural expressions that have been passed from one generation to another and have evolved in response to their environment, give us a sense of identity and continuity.

With over 100 events, most free, you can enjoy tours, open days, dances, talks, dinners, markets and more.

Hear the stories and celebrate intangible cultural expression of dance, costume, music, poetry, storytelling, traditional games and handicrafts. By doing so we are helping keep them alive and relevant for all generations. Through learning about our own identity we are better able to respect each other resulting in a more inclusive society.

The festival raises awareness to the ongoing need to conserve the region’s natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage.
