Jam Workshop with Canberra Blues Society

The Canberra Blues Society Jam Workshops are held on the first Wednesday of each month, except January, at The Harmonie German Club. Songs are pre-selected and charts available online beforehand so participants can practice in the lead-up to the workshop.

Each workshop has a house band of professional musicians to help and encourage players to perform the songs confidently and this house band is incredibly friendly and supportive of all players no matter what level they are at. There is no age limit for participation and school-aged children are definitely encouraged to come, learn and practise playing the blues.

The workshops are not intended to show you how to play your instrument, but they will give you a better understanding about how blues music is structured and how you can perform confidently with other members of the band.

Participants need only bring their instruments. A PA system and back line including a drum kit, keyboard, two guitar amps and a bass rig are provided. The house band makes sure that all participants get a chance to have a play on material they feel comfortable with.
