In Altering the Edges, Ellen Dahl continues to probe the concept of the ‘landscape’ to find ways to articulate trepidations around the Anthropocene and the uncertainties of place and belonging.
Originally from arctic Norway, and with a continuing interest in ‘places at the edge of the world’, she will present works from the north/south peripheries of the arctic island of Spitsbergen (Svalbard, Norway) and Tasmania (Australia).
These are locations known for their pristine natural environment and aesthetic projection of deep time – while concurrently the convergence of human activity can be intuited across the geographical topography. Dahl explores the aesthetic/poetic potential within the photographic medium to further underpin the project conceptually.
