Glyphs: homage to country – paintings, works on paper & sculpture by GW Bot

Exhibition and Shows

28 Feb 2019 to 17 Mar 2019

Through her unique visual language of glyphs, GW Bot maps the landscape – not literally, but intuitively – with her markings always born from personal experience. “In my art, glyphs are the language of the landscape, a very intimate process of mark making that comes from the land itself. It is a visible and physical collaboration with nature in all of its forms and moods, the shapes of rocks, mountains, trees and dry lakes, the grasses and the wind in the grass as well as the changing conditions of light.”

In all variations of her work, GW Bot marries a mastery of technique with unlimited creativity and intuition. GW Bot studied in London, Paris and Australia, graduating from the Australian National University in 1982. Her work is represented in over one hundred public collections, including the National Gallery of Australia.
