Kintsugi Accessory Workshop

Come and the learn the delicate art of Kintsugi as POP Canberra welcomes Kintsugi Australia to Canberra!

Kintsugi is the Japanese ancient method of repairing broken pottery. In this fun, hands-on class you will use the kintsugi technique to make beautiful accessories! You will create accessories with different parts joined together (継ぎtsugi) using beautiful gold (金Gold) lines.

In this beginners class, you will learn some of the techniques of Kintsugi and basic knowledge required for making accessories. You will make three pieces: a pair of earrings, a brooch and a pendant. You can choose materials from ceramics, acrylic parts, beach glass and metal parts.

The Kintsugi technique you’ll learn is similar to what was done 500 years ago, but we will use modern materials (epoxy glue instead of lacquer, brass powder instead of pure gold) which don’t need as many processes as the traditional one. The appearance of the final product made using the modern technique is very similar to that of a Kintsugi piece made using the traditional technique.
