One by Murray Kirkland

Exhibition and Shows

11 Apr 2019 to 28 Apr 2019

Murray Kirkland seeks to convey a more personal, intimate experience of history through his latest exhibition – One.

For over twenty years Kirkland has utilised research into the Great War as a platform for exploring ways of perceiving the past. This work was inspired by conversations with older family members that led to further research into his family history and the events that some witnessed. This installation centres on his Great Uncle George Kirkland who died just after the battle of Bullecourt in France 1917.

This exhibition presents an intimate view of the past; it is the manifestation of quiet reflection and contemplation inspired by conversations with older family members.
