Rabbit Proof Fence (in 35mm)

Western Australia, 1931. Molly (Everlyn Sampi), Daisy (Tianna Sansbury) and Gracie (Laura Monaghan) – two sisters and a cousin aged 14, 10 and 8 – are forcibly abducted from their mothers and taken to a mission, from which they promptly escape.

For several days they walk north, following a fence that keeps rabbits from settlements, eluding an Aboriginal tracker (David Gulpilil) and pursued by the police under orders from AO Neville (Kenneth Branagh), ‘Chief Protector of Aborigines’.

Based on the book Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence by Molly’s daughter, Doris Pilkington Garimara, this true story introduced many people worldwide to Australia’s ‘stolen generations’. Nearly 20 years after its release, it has lost none of its emotional power.

Don’t miss the chance to see this beautiful 35mm film print on the big screen!
