Royal Australian Air Force Centenary Flypast

Festivals and Celebrations

31 Mar 2021 Once Only Event

The Royal Australian Air Force will mark 100 years of service to Australia with a number of events across the nation, and some locally here in Canberra.

Canberra will host the once-in-a-generation presentation of a new Queen’s Colour for the Royal Australian Air Force and there will be the largest flypast of current and historic aircraft in several decades, over Lake Burley Griffin.

The public is encouraged to get to Lake Burley Griffin or a vantage point to see this spectacular flypast.

• From approx. 11:25 am to 11:45 am, a mass flypast will occur, involving approximately 60 historic and current Air Force aircraft.
• This flypast will be in commemoration of the more than 350,000 men and women who have served, and in particular to the memory of the 11,191 RAAF members who died in the service of Australia.
• Aircraft groups will track west to east along Lake Burley Griffin.
• From approx. 11:45 am to 12:00 pm, the Air Force Roulettes will perform a public display over the central basin of Lake Burley Griffin.
