The BOLD Festival
7 Mar 2019 to 10 Mar 2019
Across four days, the BOLD Festival brings together a dance artists from a wide range of areas, cultures and countries. Explore their legacies, experiences and careers evolving with age through talks, performances, films and revivals of historic works. Our present lies in our past – BOLD celebrates the changes that come with age.
BOLD Festival honours the legacy and impact of professional and community dance – a platform for the work of older and still-practicing artists as a way to explore healthy ageing, the health impacts of creativity and the cross-generational exchange of ideas and practice.
Interdisciplinarity is explored through connections between movement, science, multiculturalism, history and art, with an emphasis on Australian indigenous dance heritage.
The event coincides with the Enlighten Festival and is hosted by 4 national institutions; National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA), National Library of Australia (NLA), National Portrait Gallery (NPG), National Gallery of Australia (NGA), Ausdance ACT, QL2 Dance and Mirramu Creative Arts Centre.
