Wednesday Lunchtime Concert: Le Nuove Musiche

AJ America, mezzo-soprano, & Ariana Odermatt, harpsichord, in a concert of music by Monteverdi and Caccini. Drawing largely on songs and monodies from Caccini’s 1602 collection (“Le nuove musiche”), these works are some of the earliest examples of the Italian “seconda practica” – a development from polyphonic music. This exciting and innovative concert was much anticipated in June 2022 but was cancelled when one of the performers was struck by COVID. We are truly delighted that an audience can experience it now!
