Two story tellers, William Crighton and Gawurra, unite to present remarkable music from two unique Australian perspectives.
Both artists returning from Europe and USA tours have been prominent in the music scene over the past year, with Crighton buoyed by the success of his fascinating self-titled debut album and the equally impressive follow-up EMPIRE, captivating audiences with his live work. He played a seamless string of shows on the East coast, West Australia, and Adelaide including WOMADelaide, alongside a plethora of festival appearances in Australia including Byron Bay Bluesfest and showcases in Canada, New York City and Kansas.
Since his 2016 debut album, Ratja Yaliyali, Yolngu singer-songwriter Stanley “Gawurra” Gaykamangu is hailed as a must see performer. Gawurra sings in his native tongue of Gupapuynga, with a deeply resonant and soulful voice, which won 4 NIMAs Awards and was nominated for an ARIA.
Apart from beautiful, visceral music, Arhnam Land song man and Riverina boy, Gawurra and William Crighton share a love for the Australian landscape and far flung corners of this wide land. They will travel together on this regional tour sharing their stories.
