The Possum Patch mission is to give children and their families the opportunity to connect with the land and learn about the origins of their food through a ‘paddock to plate’ philosophy. They hope to inspire children to learn more about cooking healthy food and immersing themselves in the world of using fresh, natural produce for a range of purposes.
Located on the banks of the Molonglo River and long used by the Ngunnawal people, Pialligo Estate is now a farm that consists of award-winning market and herb gardens, a vineyard, olive groves and a smokehouse. The new plot of land on Beltana Road boasts a Children’s Event Centre, alongside a café and a retail marketplace.
Through a ‘learning through play’ approach, children engage in a variety of nature-based activities such as picking vegetables from the market garden, collecting fruit from the orchard, learning to cook using fresh produce, participating in nature play while exploring the Estate, using natural ingredients to create bath products or using nature in art.
Enjoy a variety of programs and services available through the Children’s Event Centre which includes: Children’s Holiday Programs, Birthday Parties , School Excursions and more.
