Wake up in the wild at Billabong Camp in Dubbo, Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s overnight camping experience, where you will discover the magic of this open range zoo in a whole new way.
Billabong Camp offers an immersive bush camping experience, close to the Zoo’s new Lion Pride Lands precinct opened April 2018. You may hear the roar of the Lions at night as you’re nestled in your cozy three by three metre heavy duty canvas tents (all set up for you), located by a picturesque billabong.
Guests experience a late afternoon visit to Lion Pride Lands as well as two guided behind-the-scenes walking tours in the evening and morning. The Billabong Camp package also includes two day zoo admission, barbecue dinner, breakfast and more.
Billabong Camp is one of three overnight experiences at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, winner of the 2017 Australian Tourism Award for Unique Accommodation.

Guests are accommodated in canvas tents located around a picturesque billabong in the zoo’s Australian wildlife area. The facilities include a communal dining area and amenities block.
Tents are three metres by three metres, made from heavy duty canvas with a solid floor, and can sleep up to three people (two stretcher beds and one sleeping mat).
Groups of four are allocated a campsite which has two tents adjacent to each other. Groups of four or more will be allocated campsites/tents based on sleeping requirements (confirmed at the time of booking).
Stretcher beds and sleeping mats are included in the cost of stay.
Guests can bring their own linen or hire sleeping kits.Linen not supplied
