Sadly, Wolgal Hut was damaged by a bushfire in December, 2019 and is currently closed.
Wolgal Hut, in the historic subalpine Kiandra district, combines a remote location for self-sufficient travellers with the look and feel of a 60s retro ski lodge. Its a great base for exploring the spectacular high country of the Australian Alps in Kosciuszko National Park, near Adaminaby.
Once youve settled into the classic stone and timber lodge, youre ready for action. Nearby Mount Selwyn is a great ski spot in winter and theres excellent bushwalking and trout fishing during the warmer months. Try the nearby New Chum Hill trail or Goldseekers trail, which is also great for snow shoeing in winter.
If you feel like something a little more laid-back, indulge in some birdwatching from the outdoor deck. Look for wedge-tailed eagles and in winter you might catch a glimpse of the vibrant flame robin.
As the evening descends, enjoy a hearty meal together before relaxing round thegas fire.
