Merimbula Bar Beach

Natural Attractions

A small, beautiful beach on Merimbula Lake, famous for its stunning turquoise channel and breathtaking views across Merimbula Bay and the rolling hinterland.

Bar Beach is sheltered from summer’s northerly winds and has outdoor showers and amenities.

In the warmer months, you can grab a coffee or a healthy bite from Bar Beach Kiosk, one of the region’s famous beachside eateries.

Bar Beach is patrolled seven days a week in the summer. It is wave-free but lies on the channel of Merimbula Lake which can have strong tidal currents.

Floating down the channel on the outgoing tide is a popular pastime, but beware of boats and rips.

Walk along the rocks towards the lake for a more secluded swim, or down towards the mouth for some excellent snorkelling.

“The Bar” surf break is popular with mal riders and stand-up paddle boarders, as well as short board riders when the conditions align.
