Riverside Campground and Picnic Area

National Parks and Reserves

Riverside is beside the Macleay Gorges Wilderness Area. Being on the Apsley River, remote and unspoiled makes it ideal for a day trip or an overnight camp. You can swim, fish, walk and canoe here. To get to Riverside, travel 50 kilometres east of Walcha along the Moona Plains Road.

Vehicular access is limited to Four Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicles with Low Range capacity. This is a necessity due to the steep terrain. No caravans, trailers or motorbikes are permitted.

Visitor numbers are limited for day use and camping areas. Bookings are essential (fees apply). Bookings can be made via the website or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre. Once booked, you will be sent a permit and a code which unlocks the gate.
