Situated approximately 28 kilometres from Broken Hill, Silverton, Umberumberka Reservoir and the Mundi Mundi Plains have many natural and historical features that are best described to you at the point of contact by your experienced guide.

The Mundi Mundi Plains lookout has a breathtaking view that conjures up many questions that the visitor may wish to have answered then and there. On the tour, this is possible.

Visit the famous Silverton Hotel. There is also an opportunity to see craft centres, art galleries and museums, on your journey back in time.

Tour departs from Sydney.

Arrive in Broken Hill on Outback Explorer. You will be met by Host from Silver City Tours and escorted to accommodation.

Day two, take the City Sights and Heritage Tour. After a short break head to the World famous Sculpture Symposium for a sunset.

Day three, take the Wetlands Cruise, Menindee and Kinchega National Park tour.

Day four, visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and Silverton Ghost Town.

Day five, visit Whites Mineral Art and Mining Museum, and take the Taste of the Artback tour.

Day six, Free day to explore this great part of Australia at your own pace

Day seven, Today you head to Australia’s oldest commercial opal fields. See Australia’s first solar power station. You’ll visit Red Earth Opal Underground Mine Tour and Showroom, a chance to purchase opals direct from the source. (Overnight White Cliffs Underground Motel)

Day eight, After breakfast they depart for Broken Hill, afternoon free

Day nine, return to Sydney.

Broken Hill is renowned for its vibrant art community, with artists depicting the great Outback with vivid sunsets, landscapes and vast open spaces.

Home of the legendary Brushmen of the Bush, the Silver City hosts many galleries where you can view the regions’ spectacular scenery through the eyes of these talented artists.

The tour visits many galleries including Pro Hart’s (one of the largest private art collections in Australia), Jack Absalom’s Gallery and the Silver City Mint and Art Centre featuring works by Peter Anderson. The Art Centre is home to The Big Picture, which features stunning panoramas and is the world’s largest acrylic painting on canvas (12 metres x 100 metres).

Visit the famous Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). Learn how these dedicated people provide medical service to outback areas. This hardworking service started by John Flynn forms a “Mantle of Safety” in the vast outback. A terrific photo opportunity awaits as we arrive at “The Guardian”, the magnificent four metre sculpture in the forecourt.

You will be taken on a tour of the medical centre, view the aircraft hangar and the aero medical aircraft.

A tour through the Visitor’s centre will include a visit to the museum with interactive displays, showing the history of the Service, as well as viewing a short film on the work of the RFDS.

The tour covers 50 kilometres of this unique city. Your tour guide will tell you of the impact the enormous wealth of the ‘Silver City’ had on the development of this great country. This city was founded from the discovery of the richest ore body in the Southern Hemisphere. A highlight is a visit to the Line of Lode Miner’s Memorial. This magnificent attraction is located at the highest point of the Line of Lode, overlooking the city.

Hear of the origins of BHP and their eventual departure from the Silver City. See the vast differences between the early miners’ cottages and the modern homes of today. Your tour takes in wonderful heritage buildings, churches and hotels.

Your guide will tell you of the hardships that the courageous pioneer miners faced in this harsh, arid land. Today, this land sees a number of people living underground in dugouts, where the temperature stays at a constant temperature of 22 degrees celsius.

This tour is designed to maximise enjoyment of the sunset in this vast land, as well as viewing one of the world’s major sculpture symposia.

Enjoy a leisurely tour around the Menindee Lakes Scheme. Sit back and relax with morning tea on the shores of Copi Hollow.

Travel from Menindee on to Kinchega National Park. This magnificent park is located along the banks of the Darling River.

Continue on to Lake Wetherell, where you will enjoy a relaxing cruise through the wetlands aboard the “River Lady”. Your experienced guide will inform you about the lake and point out the abundance of birdlife that make this safe haven their home.

White’s Mineral Arts and Mining Museum is a unique experience, where you can go underground without actually going under!

There is a walk-in mine for family viewing and guided tours and mining models for ease of understanding. A video on the history of mining in Broken Hill is screened.

There is also an exhibition of crushed mineral collage art works and an extensive collection of handmade dolls and bears are on display.

White’s Mineral Arts and Mining Museum is a complete show for the whole family.
