SOSSA conducts studies into the natural history of the Illawarra and it’s environments.
Founded by the members of the New South Wales Albatross Study Group (NSWASG) in 1994, SOSSA was set up to be an umbrella organisation for many study groups concerned with studies of Southern Ocean biodiversity.
SOSSA offers a variety of Pelagic Trips on the fourth Saturday of every month. If you would like to book for a private trip, please contact the organisation for more information.
The Pelgaric trip offers you an opportunity to see different sea birds and mammals in their natural habitat. This is definitely a experience that you should not miss.
The SOSSA Pelagic Tours depart on the fourth Saturday of every month from Kiama departing at 7:30am and returning at 4:30pm.
This is the best way to sea seabirds and mammals up close and personal in their natural habitat. They travel 30/35 miles off shore in Kiama to tag and release seabirds as part of their research.
