Endangered Productions’ intoxicating staging of J.S. Bach’s ‘Coffee Cantata’ combined with excerpts from Grieg’s ‘Peer Gynt’ delighted audiences in Sydney before the COVID-19 crisis hit. We are bringing this joyous music to areas of regional NSW devastated by fires, drought, the COVID-19 pandemic and now floods.
We’re performing in Taree on Sunday 25th April at the Manning Art Gallery. Come and join us while enjoying a weekend staying in the beautiful Manning Valley or surrounding beach villages.
What is the Coffee Cantana?
In 1734 J.S. Bach wrote this secular cantata about the temptation and power of coffee – a growing fad in Leipzig. In our modern adaptation an irate father admonishes his cocktail-addicted daughter and tries to forbid her going to the local bar. Who will win?
Who is Peer Gynt?
‘Peer Gynt’ is a play by Henrik Ibsen set in a fantasy world of trolls and mythical creatures. Ibsen asked Edvard Grieg to write music for the first performance and some of these tunes are well known in popular culture. We present a selection of the familiar and not so well known numbers.
