Exhibition and Shows

24 Mar 2018 to 6 May 2018

In recognition of the significance and outstanding beauty of the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre hosts The World Heritage Artists in Residence Program. This initiative consists of a six week artist residency for one artist at Bilpin international ground for Creative initiatives, to create a new body of work in response to the World Heritage Area followed by an exhibition at the Blue Mountains City Art Gallery.

Karen Miranda Abel from Toronto, Canada was selected to participate in the World Heritage Artist in Residence Program and will present her body of work Pools of Light: In Shadow. Through field research practice, Abel will examine cave formations as symbols of protection and refuge in a changing landscape, representing timeless sanctuaries in an area increasingly threatened by coal mining.
