Random Weave Basketry

“Random weave is a really satisfying technique that can be used to give amazing results,” Zimmi Forest of Weaving Nature, NSW Northern Rivers.

Learn the simple techniques to transform natural fibres into utilitarian baskets or sculptural objects. In this class, students will complete a simple, beautiful basket made from Bangalow inflorescence under Zimmi’s guidance.

Zimmi Forest is a fibre artist who has a passion for sustainability and the environment, creating works with nature, about nature and in nature. Making is an addiction that grew out of her desire to transform discarded natural materials into beautiful art and utilitarian objects.

Zimmi’s knowledge and passion is for foraging, making and teaching all things fibre-based. With over 40 years of teaching under her belt, her teaching skills are well-developed, relaxed and comprehensive.
