Hosted by Councillor Greg Conkey OAM, Mayor of Wagga Wagga, the event be officially launched by Australian War Memorial Director Mr Matt Anderson PSM, followed by music from the Australian Army Band-Kapooka (Jazz) on the lawns of the National Art Glass Gallery.

Exhibitions to be launched include:

Ink in the Lines
Freya Jobbins: 41
Baden Pailthorpe: MQ-9 Reaper I-III
As home to the Australian Defence Force Army Recruit Training Centre Kapooka, and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) College in Wagga Wagga, it it is our great privilege to launch the national tour of Ink in the Lines from the Australian War Memorial.

Comprising of powerful portrait photography and video interviews, Ink in the Lines considers the use of tattoos among Australian military personnel. Australian War Memorial exhibition curator Stephanie Boyle writes, the tattoos of veterans signify belonging, and “commemorate loss, experiences of trauma and overcoming adversity… acknowledging the experiences that make us who we are”.

To accompany this significant exhibition, the Gallery has commissioned Sydney artist Freya Jobbins to create a new artwork entitled ‘41′. The artwork represents the 41 Australian soldiers who lost their lives during the Afghanistan campaign. Herein, the artist acknowledges their ultimate sacrifice.
