15 Aug 2020 Once Only Event
For the first time in its 19-year history the Sydney Symphony Fellowship and Artistic Director Roger Benedict travel west to perform at Orange Regional Conservatorium.
Australia’s finest young musicians, the Sydney Symphony Fellows, will perform a program of chamber music that takes the listener from Paris to New York including Maurice Ravel’s shimmering String Quartet, Jean Françaix’s playful Divertissement for wind trio and the jazz-inspired Meeelaan for bassoon and strings by Wynton Marsalis. The concert will finish with a suite of George Gershwin’s most loved melodies from Porgy and Bess arranged especially for the 2020 Fellowship ensemble.
The Sydney Symphony Fellowship is recognised as one of the world’s leading orchestral training programs, providing exceptional young musicians with an intensive year-long program of mentoring, performances, workshops, and immersion in the world of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
The Sydney Symphony Fellowship is generously supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Create NSW, and individual donors.
Concert duration: approximately two hours (including 20-minute interval).
