27 Feb 2021 to 28 Feb 2021 Daily Event
Join a textile artist and maker Millie Hocking for a morning of upcycling. Millie will guide participants through basic embroidery techniques to create Australian flora designs using and repurposing upcycled clothing.
“The workshop aims to encourage and support the reduction of clothing and textile waste, by educating and inspiring people to create one-of-a-kind pieces through contemporary textile design practices with a focus on Australian flora and fauna.” – Millie Hocking, Shy Fox.
What to bring: Participants will need to bring along a t-shirt or clothing piece of choice. All other materials will be provided including threads, wash away applique sheets, needles, and hoops. Please ensure the material you bring along is cotton or linen (light or thin). Avoid clothing made out of denim, thick/heavy fabric, pleats, zips etc, as it will be hard to sew through and onto. Silk can also be slippery.
What you will take home: Participants will take home their own upcycled piece of clothing, and an information sheet to create your own at home.
Please note 18+ years | All skill levels welcome – you will not need any sewing skills to participate in this workshop.
