26 May 2021 to 6 Jun 2021 Once Only Event
Crying Chair Theatre will present a double-bill of two stellar Australian works, Yielding and Big Horn, at Marrickville’s Flight Path Theatre from 26 May to 6 June.
Directed by Richard Cotter (Confessions of Jeremy Perfect, ABC’s Rake) Yielding stars Tricia Youlden (Bondi Theatre Company’s Bondi Legal) as Dot, a once bold, strong women in control of her life. Since her stroke, though still strong in mind, her body betrays her daily. Liz, Dot’s middle-aged daughter, is solely responsible for her mother’s care and has sacrificed her own career and ambitions for the exhausting battle of appointments, pills, bills, chores and repeated demands to help her mother. Both Dot and Liz are struggling to hear and be heard, to see and be seen. Their world shrinks inwards as each month passes, leaving Dot dancing on the edge of the decision to set them both free.
Taking an empathetic look at love, loss, sexual politics and ageism, Big Horn directed by Tricia Youlden, featuring Richard Cotter, is a poignant story of one man’s determination to hold onto his home and his past. Ray Bold has lost his wife and son. But he never lost his fighting spirit, and he’s bloody determined not to move out of his home. Daughter-in-law Cate must convince this wily old codger to move, before the government resumes his property.
General Admission $35, Under 30s and Concession $25, Preview and Tuesday performances $20
