Black Star Pastry – Newtown

Home of “the world’s most Instagrammed cake”, this small cafe in the backstreets of Newtown often has a line out the door. Many of them are here for that cake – the Strawberry Watermelon Cake, with two layers of almond dacquoise, rose-scented cream, watermelon, strawberries, pistachios and dried rose petals. There are plenty of other cakes, pastries and savoury delights on the menu, as well as great coffee. There are now three other outlets across the city in the CBD, Moore Park and Rosebery.
