Jindera

Rural

The township of Jindera was officially gazetted in 1869, on land from Dight’s Forest. Initially, the township consisted of a post office, general store, blacksmith, wheelwright, home nursing hospital, four hotels, two schools, butcher, baker and even a racetrack.

Today, Jindera pays homage to its roots through the award winning Jindera Pioneer Museum, where you can wander through the original Wagner’s Store, see early farm machinery and even a blacksmiths forge.

Visit Jindera and taste one of Jindera Bakery’s famous pies, drop into the Hotel for a cold drink or have a swing at the Jindera Golf Course. Or shop up a storm at the monthly Jindera Country Markets. In October the streets of Jindera are flooded with soft top vehicles at the annual ‘Pop the Top’ soft top festival.
