Darwin Barra Base offers complete Top End Barramundi and bluewater fishing tours. With three custom built barra and bluewater fishing boats you will certainly experience the thrill of fishing for Australia’s premier sportfish, the Barramundi, along with targeting a large variety of hard fighting bluewater reef fish including jewfish, snapper, coral trout, red emperor and the pelagic fish species such as Spanish mackerel, queenfish and the giant trevally.

To seek out the barra, clients will be taken to some of the best fishing spots in the river systems, billabongs and lagoons of the Mary, Adelaide, Finniss, Howard and Elizabeth rivers. Clients also fish some of the Territory’s most remote locations including the Vernon Islands, Dundee Beach and Bynoe Harbour.

The operators know the region well and will design a tour to meet the needs of beginners and experienced anglers alike.

Darwins Barra Base now have three custom built boats and can cater for corporate groups up to 12 people.

Fishing new wetland billabong areas each day, you’ll see a wide variety of bird life, wildlife, water lilies, pandanus trees and witness crocodiles up to six metres in their habitat and water buffaloes grazing at the waters edge. Observe tropical nature at its best.

Daly River – May to Oct

Staying a Banyan Farm, where the famous national fishing competitions, The Barra Classic and Barra Nationals are held each year, you’ll be fishing the known hot spots like the S Bends, Elizabeth, No Fish Creeks, Alligator Head and down the mouth to Crystal and Clear Creeks.

Darwin Barra Base puts in that extra mile to get you to where the fish are biting, so you’ll experience the adrenalin rush of landing fantastic barramundi, whilst viewing outstanding wild river scenery, birdlife and wildlife. Witness crocodiles up to 6 metres in length, in their natural habitat and view the ancient trees that overhang the waters edge.

You’ll experience the adrenaline rush of landing a ferocious saltwater barramundi up to 60 pounds, plus threadfin and blue salmon up to a metre plus, during the run off at the awesome locations of Shady Camp, Adelaide River, Shoal Bay and the Finniss River.

During the dry season, you will see billabong wetland scenery, bird life and wildlife whilst hooking and landing fantastic barramundi, saratoga, tarpon and other species.

Darwin Barra Base have special custom built barra boats built specifically for barra and bluewater safaris. You’ll spend time fishing for barra and saratoga in the wetlands of the Mary River System, next chasing saltwater barra in the Finniss River or getting reel screaming double hook ups of 40 pound pelagics, 15 to 20 nautical miles out from Dundee Beach.

You’ll experience the adrenalin rush of hooking fantastic barramundi, jewfish, queenfish, snapper, red emperor and coral trout on this safari, whilst viewing wild tropical scenery, birdlife, wildlife and crocodiles in their natural habitat.

Enjoy an exciting one day barramundi or bluewater fishing challenge as you explore the Top End. A barramundi fishing trip can include locations such as the Mary or Adelaide River, while a bluewater fishing trip might visit Dundee Beach, Bynoe Harbour or many other fishing hotspots. Species targeted can include barramundi, jewfish, snapper, red emperor, Spanish mackerel and many others. The specialist guides can cater for beginners and experienced anglers alike.

Experience the adrenalin rush of landing a ferocious saltwater barramundi, threadfin and blue salmon, plus hooking, stopping and landing the freight train of the sea those giant black jewfish and golden snapper at awesome locations of Shady Camp, Chambers Bay and Finke Bay.

Whilst hooking and landing a barramundi, saratoga or tarpon up in the freshwater side of Shady Camp, you’ll also see billabong wetland scenery, birdlife and wildlife.
