The Botanic Gardens Tour is a guided tour through the major scenic areas of the gardens on a Segway Personal Transporter.
If you can walk, then you can enjoy the cool easy experience on a Segway PT. We will travel through the best scenic areas the park has to offer on the most popular 1.5 hour cruise taking in the beautiful scenery from the Boab plains to the Monsoon Forest where we feed the fish then we’re onto the high ground travelling through the Cycad park. This is a tour that will intrigue you with its cosmopolitan intake from the Dutch, South African, Japanese and South American. You will enjoy the different fragrances, see different Indigenous bush tucker and medicines, explore the Botanic Gardens and listen to a little history of the park with its trials and tribulations.
This one hour tour starts opposite the Military Museum where we cut across the open grassland and then through into the Mangrove forest, ducking and weaving along the hidden paths and coming out on the other side of the peninsula and onto the bike tracks. Travelling past the RC Airfield we normally encounter Agile Wallabies and some of the NT’s beautiful birdlife including the Rainbow Bee Eater. Then onto the fascinating Mangrove walk where we go out over the tidal zone and view the amazing ecosystem of the Mangroves stopping for photo opportunities. We cut back through the Coastal Forest to our start point and view some WWII sites on the way.Family Friendly
The tour starts opposite the Military Museum in East Point and explores the East Point military sites, enjoying the amazing history the area has to offer and the stories of the people who defended Darwin. We take in the different gun sites and the military village located around East Point, we also look at and listen to how the Australian Navy helped in the defence of Australia and our involvement in the Pacific region. The tour includes entry to our Darwin Military Museum.
