5 Jun 2021 Annual Event
Junk-Fest is Katherine’s annual grassroots celebration of sustainability and the arts.
As a free festival Junk-Fest brings the region’s focus onto how we manage waste and interact with the stunning and rich natural environment here in the Territory. To set an example, all aspects of the event seek to leave the lowest possible environmental impact, including having all fossil fuels offset through Jawoyn Association’s cultural burning activities.
Now in it’s 9th year, this full-day, family-friendly event incorporates performances, workshops, market stalls and its trademark ‘Junk-Sculpture’ displays.
These wonderful, monstrous pieces of community-contributed, upcycled art are entered into our range of award categories offering cash prizes.
Katherine Regional Arts is an ardent and firm advocate for all activities to reflect the cultural diversity of the region, and ensure all aspects of Junk-Fest from performers to the crowd themselves reflect that of the Big Rivers region.
