Parrtjima | Talks | Frontline Power: Reporting Across the Media with Naomi Moran

Classes, Lessons, Workshops and Talks

12 Apr 2023 Annual Event

Hear from Naomi Moran as a part of the talks program at Parrtjima 2023.

Coordinating food, clothes, counselling, and essential items for thousands of people was never part of Nyangbal, Arakwal woman Naomi Moran’s remit as the General Manager of Australia’s only independent Indigenous newspaper, The Koori Mail.

Reporting on the devastation, her staff were often first responders during the 2022 floods which cemented her belief that Indigenous people and communities have always been capable of self-determining what level of communication and care looks like during a crisis.

Join Naomi as she unpacks the fundamental foundation required when reporting, the understanding of a shared history, the way race and racism are operating in Australia and the unfinished business we all need to examine.

Entry to talks will be on a first-come, first-served basis so make sure you arrive early.
