Wide Open Space Festival
Events Hale, MacDonnell, Northern Territory
1 May 2020 to 3 May 2020
Wide Open Space festival is an annual 3-day music, arts and desert culture festival that has attracted audiences to the desert since 2009. Held in the breath-taking East MacDonnell Ranges at Ross River Resort, the festival celebrates contemporary and traditional culture through the high calibre music, arts and culture that the region generates, alongside a selection of national/international performers and artists that the region would not normally attract.
The festival promises to feed your mind, tickle your fancy and get your body moving! It’s a chance to celebrate art, music and creativity amidst the stunning landscape. It’d be hard to find a broader range of music on offer across multiple stages. From folk to live hip hop to poolside disco to Indigenous reggae to late-night dancefloors. Take in one of the many performances going on including a tapestry of cabaret and burlesque, circus and aerials and lots of dress-ups ! Or join a forum or workshops that spans dance, culture, sustainability to politics.
Held an hours’ drive from Alice Springs at Ross River Resort, the main accommodation option is camping. There are a small number of private cabins at Ross River Resort, however book early to avoid disappointment.
