1770 LARC! Tours

Adventure and Outdoors Tours

1770 LARC! Tours operate two pink amphibious crafts to explore the National Parks and pristine waterways bordering the Town of 1770 – in Queensland’s Southern Great Barrier Reef region. The ex-military Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo (LARC) vessels have the perfect capability to visit isolated beaches, cross sandbars and tidal creeks, access 35 metre dunes, and to climb the steep headland to the historic island lightstation of Bustard Head which has Queensland’s only operating lighthouse open to the public!!

You’ll hear the tales of tragedy and triumph as early settlers and lighthouse keepers struggled to tame this remote wilderness. Experience the thrill of sand boarding down the towering dunes of Middle Island. Take a guided tour in the light-keeper’s cottage, now a museum of artefacts and lightstation memorabilia. You will see some of the prolific wildlife that inhabits the area and you will gasp in awe at the spectacular panoramic views of this untouched paradise.

After lunch you can sit back in your beach chair appreciating the surrounding scenery, stroll along the shoreline for treasures, or take a dip in the refreshing waters of Bustard Bay.
